So next sometime this week the Bio pellets will be in. I already have a reactor I will use for these Pellets this is where the fun comes in I will not have before and after details as they will be ran on my 240 that currently has nothing living in it lol... I want to have everything up and running and dialed in before I add live stock. but I will keep you informed on the progress I make and any changes.
Does anyone have any susgestions on the Product....
I will be happy if the money spent on these which was only 100 for 2l's will cut out GFO thats money well spent if you ask me.
Yea one suggestion. Tell me where I can buy them at.

Rite now you can only get them from Jon Warner personally... Www.warnermarine.com
I still haven't broke down and bought them myself.... I reading mixed reviews everywhere I go about them....
I have been kinda following sunny x "www.rimlessreef.com"foot steps with the vodka and mb7 and can't force myself to buy them knowing that what I do works so well...vodka is hands down a very simple and most cost effective measure there is.... I hear the pellets do work and people are happy with them but then I hear there replacing them every 2 weeks almost on some systems... if that was the case you might as well run gfo IMO..... I'm just gonna stick with what I do for now.... Keep us updated Justin and post a review...;)

yeah thats who we are getting them from we did a group buy up here in the sunny northwest lol I am hopeing these will solve the gfo buying.
Let us know how they work j. That will cut off gfo and having to dose vodka daily.

What's a bio pellet?
*
NP Bio Pellets are a unique carbon based polymer that doubles as a substrate and food source for aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. Like adding a liquid carbon source such as Vodka or VSV, we still cannot control what bacteria are growing–however, these pellets should inherently provide more control through the location that the bacterial growth occurs (on the pellets!). It has been referred to as the Solid Vodka method for the large bacterial biomass that can be generated and then exported via protein skimming. Reef Interests, the manufacturer of NP Bio Pellets, has stated they have a patent on their unique biodegradable polymer.
“NP-reducing BioPellets are composed of biologically degradable polymers that can be placed in a fluidized filter or filter canister. The pellets will allow aerobic growth of bacteria which consequently will consume nitrate and phosphate simultaneously. The bacteria will use up the carbon from the BioPellets, whilst nitrogen and phosphorus are taken from the water as nitrate and (ortho)phosphate. This conversion of organic BioPellets (together with inorganic nitrogen and phosphorus) into microbial biomass is called immobilization. In addition, anaerobic layers will develop, resulting in additional denitrification.”

Has anyone been using these yet? Now I'm curious as to how well they hold up to their claims.

Let me know what the ingredients are, and I bet we can make our own. I'm thinking it's some kind of acetate.

yeah Mike, there are some people in the RC chemistry forum experimenting with all sorts of different polymers. Some people are using plastic beads like shape-loc and stuff.

So pellets are in... as of yesterday....
tested before adding them phos .01 nitrate .00 also I will add 1l tonight and see what the changes are to the system over the course of a month longer if needed..... I will keep track of this on a spread sheet to make my life simple..... when I get my other reactor i will add the rest already a low system so no reason to over do it only thing I will that can happen is they will degrade faster. this first set will be ran in a brs reactor after the carbon.. outlet will be placed before the skimmer section I will plac on the other side so some will get skimmed up to save from over dosing and starving fish from oxygen.
only able to fit 3/4 of a liter in the brs reactor second chamber..

Lee what do you think about taking carbon off line also?
