Not sure what the brittle star is doing

One of my little brittle stars did this for about 15 minutes today. Here is a photo - you can see the white milk like substance he was secreting into the air. Dying, reproduction, being weird I don’t know. Maybe someone here has an idea.

Dang, thats cool. I have seen small smoke clouds like that on a few occasions in my tank. Never could tell what was emitting them though. Very Cool
