Hello, I am new, you can see my tank in the introductions area. I am planning to upgrade from my 55 to something larger in the future. I am leaning toward a 125, or a 180, not sure which. I am thinking of going with a Lee Mar, with the polished edges, black silicone, and a center hex overflow. Which shop in town can order these, and who offers the best prices? Anybody know?

Thanks,

Jared

Check out blue reef they can order a lee mar for you. I ordered a 180 visio from them and saves alot of $$$ over the lee mar and couldn't be happier. Good luck

I'm working on a 180 order with BRA and have gone through a dozen design changes with no complaints. They are happy to help and were able to offer some good insight and suggestions that helped me quite a bit as I made my way through the process.

All the major shops in town can order from Lee Mar, and honestly they're all gonna tell you that they are giving you a deal, not to say that they aren't, but just hit up whichever one is closest to you and they will be fine.

Does anybody have a Lee Mar catalog that shows the various options available? Lee Mars website doesn't offer much LOL.

What do you guys think, are Lee Mars better tanks than Fujimoto or Visio? I've seen one Lee Mar, and it looked very clean compared to my Fujimoto, but my Fujimoto does the job pretty well. Any good places to look for a used Lee Mar?

They are better than Fugimoto IMO. I have never have a Visio so I will not comment. I have heard many stories about Fugi's having blowouts. I am very happy with my Lee Mar. Had it ordered custom with two overflows boxes and predrilled. Best tank I have had so far.

Fugimoto is a good sump tank, Lee Mar's are good quality and will last a long time, I have had 3 and never ran into any problems, Hebs does have a nice Visio though. Why dont you order an Elos tank?

I have a Lee Mar I ordered from Jackie when she still had her shop. It's put together like a tank but my only complaint is one of the glass panels has some flaws that you can only see when the halides are on. Kinda looks like a few air bubbles on the inside of the tank. No biggie just inspect it before you take possession!

What do you guys think of this 180 gallon for a reef with a couple tangs? Apparently it came from Atlantis Tropical Fish, so I am guessing that it is a Fujimoto. It is a 180 gallon tall, not the typical 6 x 2 x 2'.

Nice tank and good price but for a reef I would pass.

Too narrow, and no overflows? That is my main gripe.

Yes IMO you can do a lot more with a tank that has more depth front to back, less height, and a overflow for a sump and skimmer on that size would be a must.

I'm about to get a 20 long fuji probably from Trop for a QT tank :P

But for main display..go high end. You get what you pay for, to an extent...

Do you guys like euro bracing? I am trying to figure out which features that I would like, but there seems to be no catalog available from Lee Mar, so I am not even sure which features that they offer.

Also, do all Lee Mars come with the diamond edge corners, or is this extra?

Depending on size i would have it eurobraced. diamond edge is extra, as is the low iron glass.

I am leaning toward a 180 gallon. What exactly is "diamond edge?" I've heard that is where they round or blunt the corners with a diamond polishing wheel, is that the case?

I may need to call Lee Mar and ask them these questions.

i am partial to lee mar, diamond edge is the way the edges are cut(could be wrong -ask lee). also if you get a lee mar get black silicone, and low iron glass. i have 112 cube that i paid 700 for, it has diamond edges, black silicon, starphire glass, and center overflow. I think it is important to order the right tank for functionality and looks, but this will not be your last tank, and you will spend 10 times in cash in what you put in it. Ultimately you willeither move it all to a new tank or end up selling it for 1/3 of what you paid for it. Good luck . Get a quote from every shop in town-
