Well since my tank is 1 3/8thick coated magnets dont work.

first tried tunze strongest magnet no go worried powerhead would drop

next wrapped magnets with leak preventor tape no go still rusted even after several layers

next tried rubber dip at homedepot let cure 3 weeks put in tank and still rusting

Tonight I tried epoxy that we glue frags with.

I coated the magnet nice and thick and let dry tommorow I will put in the tank. Hope to stop the breakdown in the tank and ill effects to corals

I have some ceramic magnets in my tank that havent rusted, no coating. I picked mine up at Harbor freight, they aren't very strong but you can probably find stronger ones online. On the outside I use much stronger ones to hold the ceramic ones

the epoxy seemed to work pretty good. I was thinking about drilling the tank like you said a while ago Rick but I would probally have to draim alot of water

epoxy would be your best bet unless you find as rick did ceramic ones
