View Full Version : Which Fixture?
I've been working on a setting up another nano since january... just finally got around to starting the cycle, and i need to find a light. i dont want to go the LED route, im already using LED on my biocube, and i want to try something different...
ive narrowed it down to the viper clamp on or the fishneedit mh
im still debating on whether i need 70w or 150..
tank dimensions are 10x10x8 tall
so anyone have experience with either viper or fishneedit?
and is 70w enough? or is 150 to much?

I don't have experience with those brands but, I would get the 70 myself. Since your only 8 inches tall, I think a 150 would be too much, and make the tank hot.
I had a nice 75 gallon years ago with 2 150's Each one was lighting a 2 ft. square area, but at 20 inches deep.

I have had both fish need it and the viper pendant. I would go with the Viper. It is built better, doesnt run as hot and doesnt feel like it going to break in your hand. Definitely a 70w in my opinion.

I have the BioCube with the clamp on and the only thing I don't like about it is the clamp gets in the way of reaching into the second chamber. For that reason alone I wish I had a free standing one...
this wont be going on my biocube.. its another setup im going to be starting... you guys have the same thoughts that im having... i started a thread on nano-reef.com and they were the opposite. everyone said get the FNI and 150 watts... i thought they were crazy!
