Heres some pictures of the new lighting... I took a little while for the corals to adjust but all seems to be doing well now.

As you can see in some of the pix i moved the old setup above the LED's in case if i have any issues i can just drop them back down. The tank runs 3 degrees cooler with the LED's and there is less then 1 degree change throughout the day. I will update you on the power consumption in the upcoming summer months compared to last year.

nice, looks great. I would like to see some par readings from those in your tank. Do you want to borrow my meter and take some readings. :)

Thanks for posting this information and to Troylee for the article link. I am researching lighting options for my next upgrade. I cut back considerably when my metal halide ballasts died, they are true energy hogs. Can you share an update on the benefits you have seen from switching to LED's? Also, do you have clams in your tank and have you seen them maintain? Any information you can share will be greatly appreciated.

From what i've noticed so far with LED's is that they are very intense lighting and if your upgrading from T5's or power compacts to raise them up as you would on metal halides. I bleached out an acro and a leather coral. The color they bring out on some of the corals is awesome. I ordered a par meter and will have a 250watt hqi and a LED fixture over the sps tank next week to see what happens. I've used a par meter under them at the 2ft level and the LED put out more par though.

Where'd you get the par meter from? I've been looking everywhere for them.

Hello all here is a little update:

Well all is good so far i have noticed a savings 65.00 a month difference in my power bill even with the rate hikes. So that being said hopefully in 3 to 4 years the LED's pay themselves off...lol

As for the Corals i have not lost anything and can see some growth throughout the tank. My tank temperature has less then 1.5 degree swing with just the conopy fans no chiller at all.

So far i am happy with the purchase and enjoy the control of the AI LED's the ramp up and down features & settings are great they are only running at 85% and are 12 inches off the water.

Cheers,
Troy
