We will be meeting on July 23, 2011 @ 2 PM to 4 PM. The location is Memphis BBQ on Warm Springs and Eastern. Please do not go to the Rainbow location unless you want to be a wedding crasher. Narzibad (Chris) will be doing a presentation on Anemones.

Unfortunately we have to be out at 4. Delaying the presentation would interfere with the give away at the end of the meeting. Please come by late stragglers late always welcome.

Just an FYI. Hope I don't sound like a jerk I'm not trying to be one. The meetings for the club are always on Saturday. I think in the last four years we have had one on a Sunday night and no one showed up. The bylaws state the meetings are to be the first Saturday at noon each month. We try our best to follow the rules but do to the changes we are dealing with to get meeting places the week and times have varied. I was on the phone yesterday and today working on getting a room finalized for this month. I hope you can start coming to the Wednesday meet and eat again soon.

i'll ask my question now:) how you going to keep them out of the powerhead? or keep them in one place so you don't lose other corals that it stings while your in bed or at work?

I have a carpet nem and before I mount any corals, I let the nem dig its hole and make sure that's its secure in where it is. But to be honest, nothing is ever for sure with nems. They could decide to move in the middle of the night. It helps that once it foots somewhere, keep it well fed and in its natural conditions of light and flow. If a nem is on the move its not happy. Happy nem, happy tank.

No, you don't sound like a jerk! LOL My schedule has been ridiculous, and I really miss the monthly and Wed meetings. It's certainly not your fault and I wasn't complaining. I just really wish I could go. I'll be in Phoenix though on the 23rd. Will be there Wed next week though for sure!

If we can find the proper way to do it in a restaurant environment, I'm game if you are. It will make good raffle prizes.

It might be a bit much to start chopping anemones at the BBQ. We are having a freshwater dip demo soon at AE we could probably do It then.

I'm sure this is a silly ? but we are ordering food and eating too right?

tomgl

There will be the normal daily menus provided. Memphis donates the room under the premiss that people will order food and drink. Normally they setup a buffet at $20 a person to use the room but they have made an exception for us as-long as we use the room earlier in the day. In my opinion the food is better at the Warm Springs location compared the the Rainbow location. Looking forward to a sweet apple ice tea.

So do we have alittle background on the GURU speaker of the ever popular glass anemones that most of use keep? I hear he has kept alot of anemones in his tanks over the years ;)

tomgl
07-16-2011, 08:31 AM
Our speaker has been working in the industry for several years not only in stores but maintenance. He has a role in the local reefing club in his town. His process for raising glass anemones is considered to be tops in the nation.

Really good meeting. We should have a rule though that all meetings must be within 5 min of a fish store. It didn't feel right not going into AE after the meeting.
