Well this is the Blog world lol I have my 240 up and running I will add photos as I go. all cycled some fish will be coming out of Qt to go in this system soon. corals will be a few more weeks. I want to dose interceptor first. before adding......

system is a 240 gal display tank
50 gallon rubber made vat skimmer section
100 gallon vat just for extra water and return section
My design was based on a few others I just Incorporated with what I had and went from there

DESIGN over flow 1x 2" drain and 3x 1' inch drains all leading to the 50 gallon vat to be skimmer up.... water then travels by gravity to the 100 gallon vat where the Kalk ato is sitting. and other equipment will be. then the return is a Ikwai 70rtl and this tee's off to the tank and also to run all my water fed equipment. also my water changer will be attached controlled by a ball valve. the tank has about 250lbs of rock was going bare bottom but now adding sand I couldn't pass up this wrasse today lol so half the tank will be BB the other half will have some sand. So todays buy for fathers day was a ruby head Fairy wrasse almost adult size and beautiful 29.99 and also a Queen Anthia 24.99 good buys I may add.....

FLOW for flow I have 3 tunze 6100's one in a wave box and 2 out in the open 1.5" to 2" waves going also closed loop with a reef flow dart and 5 exits 2 on sea swirls. and Mj1200 Eco mod hitting the floor of the tank. and the return roughly 1500 gallons give or take a couple hundered...

LIGHTING is 2 400 watt 14k ushio bulbs I want growth now colors i will deal with later. and move back to radiums. also I will add VHO to the mix sooner or later.

INHABITANTS they will consist of 200 snails 100 of those will be certh snails and the other the cone shaped ones forgot the name maybe a cucumber Still in the air about that one as the closed loop may suck it up.

FISH Atlantic blue, powder blue, yellow, naso, Hawaiian Black trigger, shoal of Antihas and a couple wrasses six line and ruby headed fairy.

Corals will be SPS dormant tank few zoas and few LPS mostly High end zoas blue & purple hornets, orange magicians couple others I have in the tank also..... names I forget lol

Filtration Lee's DIY skimmer media reactors for Bio pellets and Carbon, Kalk reactor and Ca reactor filter floss at the end of the drains to catch all big particles skimmer will do the rest this skimmer is built to last.

Stand is a wood one cheap as the tank sits in my garage 3 heaters for the winter time to keep it noce and warm. I will wrap the vats when next winter hits as the temp still is only in the 50's lol I am in shorts lol thinking I am still in las vegas...... video and photos to follow.......

Started to buy the fish for the tank. So far I have the Hawaiian Black Trigger, on my way out to buy the Mata tang then I will convert all the fish from my 29 since they all been great no isues to my 240 today and add theNew Tang to the QT. to chill out for a few weeks to a month or longer depending on health. I will try and get photos of my fishes today and also the tank. Bio pellets also arrived today so I will pick those up and and add them to the system since is is such a sunny day lol (99.9% chance of rain).......... More to come later

All live stock from my 29 is now in my 240 man what a PITA that was to re glue everything back down. but it is all in there fish from the 29 also. missing one still I will give him away he ****es me off covering all my frags. lesson learned about an orange spot goby..... Now I am having issues with an Algea outbreak the light green algea when the lights comes on it goes in full force lights off the tank is clear I am not sure whats going on there. but thats starting to be a PITA also. I will get photos tomorrow when the lights are on.

well I added 3/4's ecobak pellets to the 240 today also hooked up the ca reactor letting it cycle before I add the co2 to it. that will be 2 weeks before I hook that up. I have to test to see how much I am lossing per day. so far water is crystal clear and still have Cyano. some things I will never figure out. but all is well fishes are swimming and getting along so far. waiting on a few things to finsih the lighting and also the other reactors...... removed my brs from a MJ and added to the return I have made slots for to run equipment. save on pumps and power. so far works great.... will update again as soon as I add some more... tomorrow if it is raining I will add my other 250w halide and also my ice cap leds for the barry white mood setting. hopefully my clowns will get it on one day so I can give my daughter something to do and make money on....

Is it a standard 8x2x2? If so is that all the lighting you have, the 2 400w metal halides? Do you have some huge reflectors or what? Trying to do some research so I can get to converting my 240

yeah I have huge reflectors I should of kept the other ones or read before I traded with a guy up here. you want to get the lumanarc minis will work also they cover 3-4 foot forgot which one but have a wide spread....

these are the ones I have http://www.marinedepot.com/CoralVue_Lumen_Bright_Reflector_Metal_Halide_Refle ctors-CoralVue-CV1351-FILTACRAMH-vi.html
those above have a more straight down light no so spread out I have to add one more for the lighting to be uniform across my tank or move them to the middle which I will try first. when I get photos uptoday I will show the difference's I like the low light in the middle of the tank but do not like the way the coverage looks!

yeah Lee knows this tank and the build also. it is a 72x30x24 roughly in that area....
