Hey guys,
I've got plenty of adult egg laying berghia ready to go,
I had several people interested a month or so ago but don't have the pm's now that the site has changed.
I'd like to make a trip down to deliver them next week or the week after if i can get enough interest.
Price is $10 each for club members and a free eggstrand with orders of five berghia or more.
And as always if anyone has a bad infestation I'm always looking to buy/trade for aiptasia rock.
thanks again,
Kyle

So what kind of trade in value do you give on live rock. I a few a pieces that I just acquired that are covered in aiptasia. They are larger pieces of figi. THey are nice pieces

I generally try to work out either a swap for clean live rock or trade berghia for the covered rock so they can clean up any that are left over.

will they die if there is no aptasia?
Yes they will die after all aptasia is gone

Kyle,
The Berghia did a great job i cant find even one in the tank now. It took about 4 months but they ate every last one.
Thank You,

Thats great info for those who say berghia don't work for large tanks his was a 500g with hundreds of aiptasia.
How long does it take to start seeing a difference?
dew2loud1
08-08-2010, 08:48 AM
It's really dependent on how many adults you add, for most tanks the adults start making a difference in the first two-four weeks, after about six weeks the juveniles will be hatched out and eating thats when they really start mowing down the aiptasia. In four months there would be probably three generations of berghia all eating aiptasia in his tank.
whenever you come back put me down for 3

It's around the end of September and my tank is bad with aptasia. Do you have any for sale and will you be in Las Vegas at all.....I am desparate as some of my zoos are not opening up anymore with these buggers around.

guess ill take a few. Do i have to worry about wrases, psedochromis, damsels, hermit crabs, or anything eating them? Last time I had them in sump no fish worked great. Next time i tried and aptasia did not go away and never found them.
dew2loud1
10-05-2010, 05:58 AM
Yes and no,
Most wrasses will eat/pick at them if they are in the open, berghia long ago developed a nocturnal feeding habit and unpleasant taste to combat this. They stay tucked away in the rockwork feeding on aiptasia from their bases most of the time and venture out at night when other fish are hiding to eat.
The biggest thing is adding enough, adding any less than three normally doesn't work because they must find each other to breed.
One problem is when people have added a bunch of peppermint shrimp (5 or more) to control aiptasia. Peppermints most often do not work and then you have five hungry shrimp always looking for a meal which berghia can become. They will work in tanks with peppermint shrimp just be careful if you have a lot of them.
Berghia can also be placed in the sump and the larvae will often survive through the return pump, mine have made it up two stories through a hammerhead pump in the past.
Let me know if anyone has any other questions,
thanks,
Kyle
