Can anyone recommend a reliable and fair appliance repair company or someone on the side? I replaced a noisy fan in my freezer 2 years ago and the icemaker has not worked since then. Yes, the switch is in the on position, the tray is pushed all the way in, and yes there is water (it will dispense water in front, but doesn't seem to want to dispense water to the icemaker). It's a GE side by side withg ice+water dispenser in the front of the unit, about 5 years old. Any input is appreciated!

Take the icemaker out and let it thaw out for a day or so and hook it back up and see what happens... Mine went out and there was a little clip that broke the first time so I replaced the ice maker and then like a month later it quit working again... I took it apart and looked it over found nothing wrong and put it back in and it has worked since lol... Worst case hit up eBay you can get a new one cheap...;)

try your ice maker water valve. mine went bad and i had the same prob. cost around 40 bucks to replace it. easy to install those are the first to go since they are always in use. ill get the number to the place i got my part from if you need it. but that what the prob sounds like to me. good luck.

some of the newer GE have to where you can just replace one side only but since your gonna have it apart might as well get the dual water and ice valve and replace both. that part last about 5 years so im sure its time.

cool, i'll check out the valve tonight, i've gotten parts from Appliance Repair Company here in town before and they were priced good and had what i needed.
Lee, i've let it thaw out twice and nothing happened
Thanks Marcus, i'll give them a shout if the valve doesn't appear to be the problem.
Bigronbo, i had checked out some repair forums a while ago and didn't find much on my problem, but i haven't hit them up in a long time, thats a good idea, thanks!
Thank you everyone! if i figure it out, i'll let you know just so if you have the same problem, you know where to start.
