There's a video of one of those online but it's a bit taller its pretty cool watching the fish swim up in the middle and then go down to the bottom part ...

If it were really a tank inside a tank but were linked, the water level would level out. It has to be essentially two seperate tanks, where the outside tank is acting almost like a primary sump. There's probably a secondary sump underneath the whole thing. To me, the inside tank would have to be cleaned regularly inside AND outside, and it would look blurry through the water running down the outside. It looks cool in a picture, but I'm not sure how much I'd like that set up in practice.

Looks sweet in the pic though :) But I agree with alot of maintenance :(

its a zero edge tank, so the return is in the middle tank, where the water overflows over the glass into the outside tank, where somewhere on there is a overflow to the main sump... as far as maintenence... the outside of the middle tank should have enough flow to keep it from needing to be cleaned right? if not whats a little magfloat work every now and then haha!

they had one kind of like this at MAX escept the outside part was black accrylic and wasnt used as part of the display...

i wont be able to see the video until i go to lunch, but im assuming its the one from like japan.... where the middle tank is actually inverted so that the top part is a pane of glass and the bottom part is open so that fish can swim between the different parts...

oh what i was going to say about the one at max was that it really wasnt that blury at all... and from having my biocube, i prefer looking top down to looking in from the glass

they have this at ATM. i saw one before i ever bought mine. it was 599.00 for a i think 36x36 and yes it flows over into the second area then to a sump and bact to the center tank. it looks very cool and yes you must clean both sides yes if you have a jumper they will wind up at the least in the second tank area and maybe then on the floor. as you can see in the pictures it isn't hade for hoods or any other top even net tops. I would love one for a reef only with cool corals and maybe bottom dwellers or proven non jumpers might be ok.

If your keeping softies or corals that don't require flow knock your self out.... Only reason I never built one for myself they should be called zero flow not zero edge..:(. I know a few people who owned them and hated them there just a nitrate factory since every thing settles in the tank..

If the tank was really tall ya but anything that breaks the waters surface defeats the whole tanks purpose..... Top down will be distorted and all the views from the sides will be distorted badly.... Key to those tanks is a very gentle cascade so you can see top down and the sides.... Any distruption will block all views if that makes sense???:(

I've seen a few of these through the years. The best one I saw was setup as a clam bed.
