Aptasia X!!!
^ if you want them to return bigger than ever yes use aptasia x!
I tried the stuff and it was only like steroid injected food. Copperband butterfly did the trick for me.

I hate aiptasia x and my copperband won't go near em. I tried lemon juice the other day and it seems like that worked well

i have used aptasia x in my tank every time and i bury it in the pile. fill the hole it is in and i have no aptasia. i bought pepermint shrimp they didn't even look at it. i bought 2 rocks a year ago or more and it had like 30 on them i took the rocks out of the tank nuked the **** out of them with aptasia x and they were never seen again. i left the rock in the rubbermade tub 2 days with an air stone. one or two in a year and each time a full tube of aptasia x and i bury it. the trick maybe is not to scare it to fast as i read they shoot out spores if attacked. i move slow squirt the stuff on quick and they die.

lol john the grape would def be seen as a attack and you will have spores from **** in your tank it won't kill it.

It only works for me when I pile it on too. It's more like entombment.

I have had really good luck with it. I dont have a single aptasia because of it. I just followed the instructions. Shut off all the pumps and power heads, let the aptasia streach out, use the provided applicator and feed it like a baby.

my understanding is electrolysis not electricution

ok hum, if it pertains to electrical current being used to kill something or remove hair which is killing it what else would you call electric applied to something to kill it?

I've read about these diy wands on RC. They are very intresting and seem to give pretty good results

What do you do when they are growing a millimeter away from the mantle on the side of your clam? Sadly, I didn't see it growing on the clam when I bought it, and now I have 3 of them growing on the clam shell, with the original one still sitting right on the edge of the mantle.

Take the clam out. Use a small damp paintbrush with some dry calcium chloride powder. Dab each one with powder. Wait a few seconds. Put clam back.

Wow^^^ that sounds rather painless and easy.
seanathen: if you need any dry calcium chloride powder let me know I have some.

well, if that's the plan, I would definitely need some mesafire. BUT, I thought that clams are one of those "always keep submerged in water" reef creatures? He's in perfect shape AND was a father's day gift from the wife. Losing this clam would be a very very bad thing.... LOL
nah it wont hurt the clam... sponges are the ones that are supposed to stay submerged if i remember right

Clams can even withstand freshwater baths. Being out for a few minutes isn't a thing. I believe certain species are able to withstand full exposure at low tides, but don't quote me on that.

My last clam came with the same problem.
I heard the same about keeping them submerged. I have three clams, one is 7 years in my tanks, the second is 6 years, and the 3rd is 3 years. They have all been out of the water numerous times. I saw no ill effects.
Plus they come from aqua farms. I have a feeling they spend plenty if time dry in the process of getting here.

When you treat for Pyramid snails you have them out of the water when brushing the shell in. Just make sure you burp them when placing them in the tank.

Have you tried White Vinegar? It works for me. Copperband will clear it up as well but they can be a little hard to keep alive. I have a tough time with them.
