I don't know if anyone else is using these bulbs, but Costco has 6500K CFL bulbs (six pack) on sale for $2.98. I use these bulbs for my fuge and have tremendous results over other type of bulbs when it comes to growth of my cheato and grape cal. Not to mention that I have had zero unwanted algae growth in my fuge. Plus they are great to have laying around the house in case another bulb goes out. I just saw the great deal and wanted to pass on the info.

I don't work for NVENERGY or any thing, but I switched my entire house over to the CFL's about few months ago. They have some great rebate programs at all the big box stores where you can get the bulbs for almost free at the register. None of those stupid mail in rebates, and a year later you get a check for $3.39 and wonder what the heck it was for. I think I was out of pocket less that 70 bucks. They have the style for recessed lighting, natural daylight, ceiling fans among a million other selections. I did notice a pretty substantial price drop in my electric bill, something to consider with the high power bills that come around this time of year. They way look at it is now you can switch your house over, do something good for the environment and maybe be able to fire up a new tank with your savings

I switiched about a year and a half ago to cfl 14 watts instead of 65watt recessed. Only problem when the light burns out how to dispose as they are toxic with mercury and if one braks in your house its a situation. Hope led price drops soon

I think LED bulbs priced reasonable might be around about the same time cars fly. It only makes sense, but for some reason it never seems to happen. Heck we put a man on the moon forty years ago, but can't get a reasonably priced LED bulb for our house or fish tanks. Most of the big box store have a CFL bulb return box now. But in all reality half the things people throw away shouldn't be. Ex: Paint, cell phones batteries, house hold cleaners, antifreeze among a million other things. I must admit that I have been guilty myself of throwing things away that I shouldn't. I'm only admitting this though be because it was over seven years ago and the statue of limitations has ran out and they could not hold me responsible.
yea we use those at my job to get a huge break from nvenergy. Those things seem to last a good long while. But yea you do need to dispose of them properly.

I just use the light with reflector w/ clamp from the Walmart in the hardware section. They only cost like 8 bucks and work pretty darn good.

i'm everything for the environment for my unit. Household trash is not regulated so don't worry about the statute of limitations Five-o. I don't use those bulbs for 2 reasons. 1 the mucury and 2 because in OK i switched all my lights to them untill i had 2 of them smoke check and melt down. lucky for me they were in a cieling fan in the kitchen on a tlie floor not a carpet but did set the smoke alarm off. i'll stick with the reveal lights much brighter and truer light spectrum. At least till cars fly and LED's are cheap:)

I have used them for years, have only had 2 go out and no smoking failures. I just moved in my new house and one of the first things I did was change to cfl. Around 40 bulbs inside and just as many outside. My wife thinks I am a fanatic but when I saw 80ish 75 watt spot lights in this house I knew there had to be some major savings switching to cfl

no doubt it cuts energy cost by 2/3's just worries me about the 2 melt downs

It would almost make me wonder if you just had a bad ceiling fan/electical issue as opposed bulb failure. Did both the bulbs fail on the same fan? Oh well. I just thought I would let everyone know about the smoking deal and see if I could save some members a few bucks. As far a true light spec, its only a fuge.

The reason they most likely smoked in the fan as they were not compatable with the fan. They are not dimmable either and some issues can happen.
With all the energy savings we can get bigger tanks that uses more power ;) so if u check the record of the power bill over the past years and it is consistent.

true, it was a fan and a lamp. but the saving is great. maybe i'll try a few again. still have the lamps but it is a cup like shade that directs the light up so if it melts down it wont get to anything.
