Now a hospital tank is NOT the same as a QT.....
Hospital tank is where you treat fish with the meds I HOB filter plenty of pre-made SALT WATER lots of carbon and some mesh bags unless you want to dedicate equipment to a qt. IE media reactor etc. you can use a Sponge filter to keep the water full of o2 or a HOB cheap brand it is wise to get a Sponge filter and just leave it in the tank for a few days before hand or if you are qting a fish add a NEW (NOT USED WITH CHEMICALS IE copper or un-reef safe chemicals) to the sump to have some life on it as it can help the fish be less stressful in the changes they will endure the next couple days and or weeks. a glass tank is best suited for a HT you can bleach when done and let air dry. just remember to always use the HT for what it is to treat fish for parasites and ich which ever the issue may be.

common items used are:

1. a tank size depends on the fish just one big enough for the biggest fish you plan to own.

2. HOB filter cheap used which ever or a sponge filter with air pump.

3. carbon

4. Mesh bags cheap and expendable or dedicate a media reactor

5. most important fresh made salt water (as some treatment ask to do a partial water change.

6. I like to dedicate pieces of pipe to for a fish to hide in ( I also will paint the whole tank black with a site hole on each panel to look in) Less stress is best for the fish.

The big cost in this is the fish meds and a fish if you loss them. hopefully this will help this is my way I will do a HT for ill fish others may have better plans to suit your needs. Please feel free to post questions I am ok with a set up but Meds and fish disease Id's i am far from good. as I only had fish with ICH.

I have a few books here on marine diseases and treatments, if anyone needs the resource or would like me to try and assist with a description of the issues I will try my best to find what it is, if not a general idea.
