I have some dried out rock that i want to put into my sump what is the process when doing this ...the rock has been cleaned and has been dry for months .....

I would put that rock in a tub of saltwater and a piece of live rock from your tank or the store and let it get seeded in there. Well that is what people would say. I would and did just put that rock directly in my sump and tank and let it get seeded in there and it became alive. I guess you shouldn't do that because it may cause another cycle but i saw no I'll effects and wouldn't think it would cause that because there is no die off from base rock.

I. Agree with iap on both methods just depends on how much live rock will depend on the cycle you may or may not have

there will be dead organic material on and in the rock still. Even years later.... Try soaking it in fresh water for 48 hours and see what happens. If its just a small amount of rock (less than 2% of your current rock) then you could probably just throw it in. If not, you may want to cycle the rock in a seperate container for 3 weeks or so.
