As some of you know I'm planning to set up my 300 gal tank soon and I,m planing to put the sump and equipment in the garage. I also have a frag tank that will be in the garage. I was going to build a fish room in the garage but Ive decided to just use the entire garage. its just a regular 2 car garage and I don't park in it anyway so why not use it. My question is can I use a swamp cooler or will there be too much humidity from the sump and frag tank?

Good question. I'm wanting to setup some tanks in my garage as well. I'm thinkin of just going with a chiller tho

Just add a couple fans breaking the waters surface

Just fans with no ac or chiller? I thought about a bunch of fans but was told that wouldn't be good enuff

if the air in the garage is 90 degrees than I dont think fans would be the answer but I could be wrong.

I would talk to greg on this one as He had corals and fish in the garage with just fans. Me personally I would not use the whole garage. A swamp cooler can bring it down 20% but has little effect when it is over 100 or so I hear

I have a huge swamper in my garage. It works great for most of the year as long as the humidity outside is low. This time of year they have little effect unless your standing right front of the swamper. I would not even consider running any tanks in my garage without and huge chiller or an indepentant A/C. I would look into a large window ac unit this fall as the temps drop. They plumit in price right around the time they release the Halloween decorations. They usually are about half price. Punch a hole in the side of the garage and you will never have to worry. Just insure that you insulate your garage door. Then you could consider a swamper as supplemental cooling when the humidty is low to help reduce your electrical bill.

An added benifet is, I run my waste water from my RO/DI to my swamper and it seems to be the exact amount of evaporation as water waste.

Just insure that you insalate your garage door. If there is attic space above your garage you many need to insulate. It is not unusual for the space above not to be insulated.
