This is gonna be kind of a two-fold thread.

1. If and when I do a tank transfer from one to the other, I know everyone suggests to just get new sand and trash out the old. But, I have several CUC members in my current sand, so I'm curious as to the best way to get them out of there and into the new sand bed.

2. Whats the easiest way to just move an established tank? Just pull everyone into buckets and drain the tank dry? How much weight can tanks hold on their bottom glass while not on the stand? (e.g. for moving around the house, up stairs, etc.)

The tanks can hold a good bit of extra weight. The cichlid tank we just moved had 4-5 inches of gravel and a little water left in it. Heavy enough that my wife could barely carry it and its only a 65g. How far are you moving it? Pick up some shipping boxes from one of the stores to hold the live rock and corals. The sand is the major problem, if you can set the new tank up and let the new sand settle out would be best. What are CUC members?

What sort of critters??? Nazirus snails??? A silver side laying in the bottom is the best thing ever to get all of them...I have used this trick since I started and everyone knows I transfer tanks alot lol..

A plastic kitty litter scoop will get most small items/CUC out of the sand. They are only a buck or two at Wally World.

Several nasarrius snails and a few sand sifter stars, lord knows what else has popped up over the last year in that tank.

I've used a kitty litter scoop in the past and worked out great
