Looks bad. Was he hairy?

You can try the cup trick. Put some food in the bottom of a cup and lean it up against your rocks and hope he slides down in it.

pretty sure its a gorilla crab... from all the pictures ive seen it matches pretty good... im just really concerned about catching this thing now... going to try the cup method.. when you say shrimp... do you mean table shrimp? ghost shrimp? one of my frozen brine shrimp cubes?

Just a big raw shrimp. And I wouldn't count on that cup method working but people swear by it. I had 3 in my tank I was able to take one out as he sat and ate on a coral. The other two I know where they live but they won't fall for the cup trick so I've given up. I'll just wait till they get to big to hide in the rocks and catch them then.

Put a few nice porous rocks somewhere you can retrieve them easily. Then wait for the crab to hide in one. Take the rock out. You got many months or years before its big enough to do any real damage
