View Full Version : External skimmer
I have the hurricone 2 skimmer and I'm not sure how to set this thing up. I'm assuming my tank overflow is plumbed to directly feed the skimmer and have the skimmer outflow empty into the sump? Do I need to valve this off? Is that gonna be too much water going the skimmer at once? Thanks. And I'm planning on using this on the new 120g.. Will this be too much skimmer?

I think it would be way to much skimmer for a 125. I would sell it off and buy a smaller skimmer that would just drop into the sump.

Sell it.. ;) fwiw don't ever feed a skimmer from a overflow you would want to use a maxijet or something to feed it nice, smooth, and constant... Overflows burp to much and will kill the foam head...
Where would I hook the maxijet to supply water to the skimmer? I have a barb fitting with a valve there and a union fitting. Am I missing something for the skimmer?
