Hi. I'm receiving a second goldflake Angel from live aquaria tomorrow. The first one died after 3 days in my 300 gallon. My question is since it is a juvenile 1-2" should I put it with my 7 tangs, some jumbo sized, a couple of butterflys and a scribbled Angel or should I put it in my safe 35 gal sump until it gets a little bigger?

Wow that is one expensive fish. What caused the death on the first one?

Not exactly sure. Seemed to be doing fine the first few days. He was picking at the rocks and looking for food. Then my chiller broke and the temp went up to 81 or maybe 82 from 76. My scooter blenny that I had for about a year also died that day. That didnt seem to be to hot for them to die in a day.

Levels were all good except temp.

Well then I have no preference either way...not without a little more knowledge of the fish and whats in the tank, at least.

I would put it in a quarantine tank. 82 normally isn't hot enough to kill a fish. Maybe the temp change was a catalyst for another unknown happening.

normally temp swing would just cause ich. Did u notice anyone beating him to death kicking them out of territorys other fish seem really big. I think it might be hard to add anything else to the tank. I cant add nothing else in my 400 and only have about 10 smal-med sized fish. Purple tang beats them up bad.

I didnt see anyone picking on him. The thing I didnt understand was the scooter dying the same day. No one ever paid any attention to him. My nitrate was 10-20. It did spike a little during that time period. I thought it was 0 but when I checked my records again I saw I was wrong. But that isnt horrible for a short period either.

Update: The goldflake is doing great in the main tank and has probably doubled in size.
